What happens when you leave a good paying office job to become a massage school student right before your 50th
birthday? I don't know yet, but I think it will be interesting!

Outside Air Conditioning & Free Entrepreneurial Training

Last summer I visited Palo Alo, California for my job.  I was swamped so I really did not want to go, but there was no one else.  I was there to assist my director with a fairly large project in just four days.  I had never been to Cali before and a co-worker described the weather in that area as "air conditioning out doors".  Considering the sauna that is Houston, Texas in the summer, I was intrigued by the idea.  I almost lost it after we collected our luggage with our fellow passengers and walked outside to find transportation.  I kid you not, a man from our flight declared quite loudly, "It's like air conditioning outside!!"  I had to explain to my director why I had to stop to bend over with laughter after that.

We stayed at the Cowper Inn, a quaint B&B that was just a few blocks from the office.  They have a homemade granola that is awesome!  http://www.cowperinn.com/

My director thought that we might have time to sightsee after work.  Needless to say we spent all of day one and part of day two dealing with technical issues.  Sightseeing was minimal.   Every evening when we left the office after dark, we walked University Avenue, people watched and enjoyed cuisine from around the world before retiring for the evening.

We completed the project on the last day with just a few hours of daylight left.  We raced back to the B&B to get the rental car to drive around and catch some sights.  Standford University was one of our stops and it was impressive.  Entering the campus on Palm Drive, it felt as if we were entering a regal, hidden, bastion of knowledge.  All the kids in shorts and flip-flops sort of nipped that image in the bud, but still a very pretty campus.

Just recently I found out that Standford's knowledge is not so hidden after all.  If you have any interest in starting or growing your own business, you must check out Stanford University’s Entrepreneurship Corner, or "eCorner" for short.  It offers 2000 videos and podcasts, featuring entrepreneurship and innovation thought leaders for FREE at  http://ecorner.stanford.edu/index.html  . Go be inspired!
